Sri Fatmawati adalah Ilmuwan dalam bidang kimia bahan alam Indonesia yang telah banyak meneliti tentang konstituen kimia dari jamu dan obat tradisional Indonesia. Hasil penelitiannya ini telah menghasilkan puluhan publikasi di jurnal internasional, beberapa paten dan buku. Selain itu, beberapa inovasinya saat ini sedang dalam proses hilirisasi.
Kimiawan yang biasa dipanggil Fatma ini juga dipercaya sebagai Ketua Organization For women in science for the developing world (OWSD) – Indonesia National Chapter, salah satu organisasi dibawah The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) dan UNESCO. Saat ini, Fatma adalah satu-satunya anggota Global Young Academy (GYA) dari Indonesia. Kiprahnya telah banyak diakui dalam memajukan sains kimia bahan alam baik di level nasional maupun internasional.
Fatma telah memperoleh 20 penghargaan baik di dalam maupun di luar negeri. Beberapa diantaranya adalah penghargaan bergengsi seperti The Elsevier Foundation Award for Early-Career Women Scientist in the Developing World in the field of Biological Sciences in East and South-East Asia and The Pacific (2016), Early Career Chemist Award - PACIFICHEM (2015), Kartini Award – The Most Inspiring Woman (2015), People of The Year 2013 – “Tokoh Muda” (2014), International L’Oreal-UNESCO For Women in Science (2013) serta Faculty for The Future Award - Schlumberger (2012). Salah satu visi hidupnya adalah memajukan sains di Indonesia dan mencerdaskan bangsa Indonesia.
