Akhmad Sabarudin lahir di Pamekasan, Madura dan menyekesaikan Pendidikan di kota ini hingga SMA. Sarjana kimia diperoleh dari Universitas Brawijaya, Malang. Ia menyelesaikan pendidikan S2 (M.Sc, 2004) dan S3 (Doctor of Science, 2007) dalam bidang kimia dari Okayama University, Japan. JSPS Postdoctoral dilakukan di EcoTopia Science Institute (nanomaterial division), Nagoya University, Japan (2010-2012). Ia menerima penghargaan anatara lain dari Japan Society for Analytical Chemistry, Japan Association for Flow Injection Analysis, Kementrian Pendidikan Nasional Indonesia, dll. , etc. Saat ini ia sebagai ketua pusat penelitian Advanced System and Material Technology (ASMAT) di Universitas Brawijaya, Malang.
