Harapan adalah dosen yang sangat produktif, dia telah menerbitkan lebih dari 100 publikasi ilmiah di jurnal internasional, dengan H-Index Scopus 19. Dia juga aktif terlibat sebagai editor dan reviewer di jurnal internasional bereputasi: sebagai Associate Editor untuk jurnal BMC Public Health; Topic Editor untuk junral Frontiers in Public Health, dan Editor Reviews in Medical Virology. Sebagai reviewer, Saudara Harapan aktif mereview di PLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, PLos ONE, BMC Infectious Diseases, BMC Public Health, BMC Health Service, BMJ Open, Expert Review of Pharmacoeconomics & Outcomes Research, Expert Opinion on Biological Therapy, Future Virology, Asia Pacific Journal of Public Health, and other journals. Saat ini, yang bersangkutan juga menjabat sebagai Chief Editor di jurnal nasional yang dikembangkan di bawah Universitas Syiah Kuala, Aceh. Saudara Harapan merupakan anggota American Society for Virology, American Society for Microbiology, The American
Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, and Australian Society for Microbiology.
