Dave Lumenta adalah seorang pengajar dan peneliti di Departemen Antropologi, FISIP Universitas Indonesia. Dave memperoleh gelar PhD di bidang Southeast Asian Area Studies dari Kyoto University, Jepang, dengan disertasi “The Making of a Transnational Continuum: State Partitions and Mobility of the Apokayan Kenyah in Central Borneo, 1900-2007”.

Pada 2013, Dave memimpin penelitian berjudul “Moving Abroad: A Case Study on the Dynamic. Inter-relationship between Social Identity Citizenship and the State among a Village Community that migrated from Indonesia in Malaysia” (Berpindah Negara: Studi Kasus Dinamika Relasi Antara Identitas Sosial, Kewarganegaraan dan Negara pada Komunitas Satu Kampung Pindahan Asal Indonesia di Malaysia).
