Vanny Narita, PhD is Senior Officer at Science and Technology Division, ASEAN Secretariat. She is responsible for ASEAN science diplomacy, managing cooperation in science, technology and innovation cooperation, focusing broadly on developing human resource capacity and promoting networks, centers of excellence and research and development.

As a researcher, graduated from University of Tennessee, Knoxville, USA in biochemistry, cellular, and molecular biology, she holds two patents on Hepatitis B and Dengue recombinant proteins within a national consortium of vaccines and medicine led by WHO-acknowledgement company, PT Bio Farma. She designed the recombinant proteins through bioinformatics analysis and optimalised their expression in microbial expression systems. Concern about the environment, she has been also working on antibiotic resistance in human impacted environment as a visiting researcher to University of Helsinki, Finland. She is the Ambassador for Indonesia of International Society for Microbial Ecology.
