Ajeng Kusumaningtyas Pramono adalah peneliti di Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN). Ajeng meraih gelar Sarjana Sains dari Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM, 2010), Master of Science (M.S.) dari King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST, 2011), Master of Science (M.Sc., 2013) dan Doctor of Science (D.Sc., 2018) di bidang comparative evolution dari Tokyo Institute of Technology (Jepang). Sebelum kembali ke Indonesia, Ajeng pernah bekerja di anaerobic bioreactor yang memproduksi listrik dan gas dari limbah makanan (2018 – 2020). Dia kemudian menjalani postdoktoral di program kolaboratif antara Gifu University dan Astellas Pharma (2020 – 2024), dengan fokus rekayasa bakteriofaga untuk menciptakan terapi bakteriofaga (Bacteriophage Therapy, BT) yang aman dan efektif.  Ajeng terlibat dalam penelitian yang menunjukkan bahwa bakteriofaga dapat diproduksi secara sintetik tanpa menggunakan sel hidup (“Synthetic engineering and biological containment of bacteriophages”, PNAS, 2022). Selain itu, Ajeng juga telah mengidentifikasi bakteriofaga pertama yang ditengarai mampu menginfeksi bakteri intraseluler dalam protista di usus rayap (“Discovery and complete genome sequence of a bacteriophage from an obligate intracellular symbiont of a cellulolytic protist in the termite gut”, Microbes and Environments, 2017).
