Dr. Moh. Mualliful Ilmi merupakan Peneliti Ahli Muda di Pusat Riset Arkeometri, Organisasi Riset Arkeologi, Bahasa, dan Sastra, Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN). Beliau adalah peneliti di bidang arkeometri dan sains material warisan budaya (Heritage Science) di Indonesia. Beliau merupakan salah satu pionir penelitian analisis berbasis saintifik pada artefak arkeologi, khususnya dalam mengungkap komposisi, sifat fisikokimia, serta proses degradasi dan pelestarian material budaya. Penelitian yang dilakukan berbasis karakterisasi fisikokimia menggunakan beberapa instrument analitik seperti mikroskop optik, X-ray fluoresensi (XRF), difraksi sinar-X (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), spektroskopi Raman, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), X-ray absorption near-edge structure spectroscopy (XANES), Laser Ablation ICP-MS (LA-ICP-MS), Nuclear Activation Analysis (NAA). Beliau menempuh pendidikan sarjana kimia di Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya, serta program magister dan doktoral kimia dari Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB). Setelahnya, beliau menempuh program postdoctoral fellowship di BRIN, serta program visiting scholar di University of Missouri–Columbia (Amerika Serikat) dan visiting researcher di University of Savoie Mont Blanc (Prancis) serta beberapa kunjungan ilmiah ke Argonne National Laboratory (Amerika Serikat), SESAME Synchrotron (Yordania), Sychrotron Light Research Institute (Thailand). Keahliannya meliputi kajian fisikokimia pigmen prasejarah pada objek arkeologi seperti gambar cadas (rock art), dekorasi gerabah, prasasti bercat, dan tinta pada manuskrip. Penelitiannya berkolaborasi dengan berbagai laboratorium internasional,termasuk EDYTEM Laboratory (Prancis), European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (Prancis), SLRI (Thailand), dan University of Missouri (Amerika Serikat). Dr. Ilmi aktif memperoleh berbagai hibah riset nasional, seperti program Riset dan Inovasi untuk Indonesia Maju (RIIM) Kompetisi, RIIM Ekpedisi, dan program riset Rumah Program OR Arkeologi, Bahasa, dan Sastra BRIN.
